Hi George, I'm impressed by the rough sea. I have a question for you: in Italy precisely in Calabria there is a country called Scilla, which takes its name from a sea monster mentioned in Homer's Odyssey. Scilly has this name for the same reason?
Keith I can tell you it was as bad as you could imagine! You wouldn't have been out in it! My boat is fine luckily, had her tied on really well and made sure she was bailed out on the low tide..

Scilly I believe takes its name from the word Silures, which I think is an old latin word for Sunny or sunshine.
ReplyDeleteHi George, thanks for your answer, very interesting.
