These 2,(they are different birds..) I think were the parents of the young one and were making a hell of a racket trying to cause a diversion from the young one. So much so that I thought I would see how close I could get hence the paddling Oystercatcher.
I took a quick couple of pics and moved swiftly on. They walked really fast in the opposite direction of the young one in the hope that you will follow them until it is safe. A great tactic! And it worked as I walked straight past 3 little ones while watching the parents!
You don't see Oystercatchers actually in the water very often - they're usually running up & down the beach. Sue
